Cheltenham clinches number five in the laid-back list rubbing
shoulders with chic Clifton, in Bristol, and bustling Burnham Market in

The entry waxes lyrical about the place, stating: "If you love
vintage, you'll love Cheltenham's Montpellier neighbourhood, with its
    retro and boutique fashion shops.

"There are also delis and cool wine merchants – try John Gordon's.

"The Montpellier Arcade wine and whisky merchant, buzzy cafe and bar is the place to be seen."

Owner John Gordon said he was pleased with its mention.

"We are slightly whacky and different and we try not to be stuffy
and pretentious. It's an unusual shop with a huge collection of
whiskies and spirits and we also do music and food," he said.

"But it's the eclectic nature of our customers which really makes the place – we have a lot of characters."

Jonathan Sellwood, owner of five-star boutique bed and breakfast
Thirty-Two in Imperial Square cannot wait to welcome guests to his hip
hotel after a mention in the piece.

The Regency terrace four-room hotel is singled out for being "wonderfully friendly".

"I guess we're cool because we offer the services and quality of a top hotel with a personal touch," said Mr Sellwood.

Diners are told to beat a track to The Royal Well Tavern, a
classic British pub with a French bistro atmosphere. It's singled out

"The town needs to be associated with a bit more of a cool name.
It has everything Bath and Bristol has, but has always been seen as
    lacking good places to eat."
